PALS Society are recruiting new trustees

PALS  Society aims to create a vibrant employment market for people with autism and learning difficulties.

We are currently looking for trustees to join our board and make a difference to young people who currently have few, if any, job prospects, but have talents and enthusiasm for work.

We want trustees with energy and passion who like to take up a challenge and see it through. It will be hard work, but very rewarding.

Formally, the role entails attending quarterly board meetings in the Fareham area, usually 2 hrs duration; reading the board papers provided a week in advance; and contributing to the discussions and decisions that will take the charity forward. In between board meetings, trustees may take responsibility for directing for the work of the Chief Executive and his team on tasks that fall within their skills. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed for all Board related work.

We also have a fortnightly Skype meeting to keep up to date with developments and to take ongoing decisions.

In order to meet our aims we need people on the board with the following skills  / experience:

  • experience of being a trustee

  • working in the charity sector

  • autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, or similar condition

  • educational psychology or adolescent mental health

  • working with young people who have special educational needs including their safeguarding

  • IT or computer science

  • connected with employers or public sector in the Solent area

  • academic with focus on Autism, SEN or employability

  • or a passion for helping create a better and more inclusive society

If you tick one or more of these boxes and want to make a  real difference, we would love to hear from you.
